Lenox held his trident bravely as he continued his search for someone, anyone, who could be useful with electronics. The forest was eerily silent and when a mockingjay called out, he jumped so high he thought he'd hit the screen at the top of the dome. He shuddered.

Max looked around with her narrowed amber eyes. She turned to whisper to a boy from District 2 and a few other Careers before she grabbed a sword and quiver and began to scour the area around the Cornucopia.

((I would be derpy. :P
Oh and BTW you spelled interesting wrong.))

Brook

The air between Brook and Wolf crackled with electricity as they pushed themselves through the field filled with shoulder-high plants.
"I wonder if any of these are edible," Wolf wondered aloud.
"Only one way to find out," Brook pulled off some of the seeds- which slid off easily into her palm- and was about to toss them in her mouth when Wolf shouted, "Wait!"
"What?" Brook asked irritably.
"If they're poisonous you'll die," Wolf proclaimed smartly.
"And you don't want that because?..."
"You're my ally," Wolf answered, "and a dead ally is of no use to me."
"Fantastic," Brook flung the seeds away, scattering them. "What now? Your crackers aren't going to last that long."
"We've got to find berries we know are safe," Wolf said. "Like the things at the thing in the training center."
"Really descriptive," Brook rolled her eyes.
"I'm trying!" Wolf snapped. "Now help me!"
"Okay," Brook said, and they began to look or food.

Wolf

Wolf watched Brook warily as she scrounged for food they knew was edible. In the back of his mind, her constantly heard one thing, repeated over and over.
Don't trust her. Don't trust her. Don't trust her.
So when Brook handed him a handful of tiny strawberries, insisting she'd seen them before and knew they weren't poisonous, Wolf wouldn't try it until Brook did.
When they decided on a place to stay- the edge of the field that bordered the lake and the forest- Wolf insisted on keeping watch first. He'd just wait until dawn before waking up Brook, so she'd have to take a very short amount of time to kill him.
When he finally got Brook convinced, Wolf propped himself up against a lone locus tree and began his long watch.

((Well, don't go and kill yourself with your own advanced literacy. We should make a literate Rp))

Eventually, Pike decided he would try the juneberries. Popping only two in his mouth, he rolled them along his tongue for a minute before breaking their delicate skins.
Pike waited.
And waited.
And waited.
He smiled and ate a few more. They didn't seem to affect him at all, and he wasn't lying dead on the ground.
Which was good.
So he ate a bunch more and filled his pockets until they were completely full.
========

Vanilla got comfortable in the bush and continued to watch in case the Careers did anything intersting.

03-7-2012 at 8:03 AM

((Way ta go all out, sis.))

Brook

As they walked, Brook made sure to watch Wolf warily. He was a tall, strong-looking guy, and she noted to make sure she always had one eye on him.
Of course, he'd probably have to keep an eye on her too, because alliances can only last so long.
This will only be until I kill off the careers, Brook decided to herself. Then, I'll pick off this Wolf guy. After that, I'll pretty much be home free.
"So, Brook," Wolf broke into the red-haired girl's thoughts. "Don't think I don't know what you're doing."
"And what is that?" Brook asked innocently.
"Planning my demise," Wolf answered plainly. He didn't say it in a challenging way, or with a lot of spite. He just stated the fact that it was. Both of them couldn't win.
"Why on Earth would I be doing that?" Brook was stung by the fact that her facial features could be read so easily.
I've never been considered an open book before.
"Both of us won't win," Wolf pointed out the obvious. "It'll most likely be neither of us. So, since we'll both most likely die, let's not use our last breaths to jeer at each other, or have unpleasant thoughts." Brook felt a spike of- pride?- for this boy, and she struggled to push it down. She couldn't become his friend. That would most likely put that black dagger in her back.
No, Brook decided. I kill him first.
Soon.

Wolf

Instantly, Wolf sensed a change in Brook. Her muscles had tightened, and she gripped her dagger tighter with each step.
"What's the problem?" he struggled to keep his voice neutral.
"Nothing," Brook spat back, lifting her dagger, just a little.
Okay, this isn't going to go well.
"You sure?" Wolf was trying to make his voice calm and caring, but he guessed Brook got it as demeaning her, because she snapped, "Positive."
"Just checking," Wolf muttered, widening his stride so there was two yards between the 'allies'.
"Well, you don't need to," Brook snarled. "I'm not a little kid."
"Yeah, well," Wolf shrugged. "You are to me."
"Pity, Brook snapped, raising her dagger a little more. "Because- guess what- I can take care of myself."
"Yeah, well," Wolf shrugged once more. "You're my ally, and I guess it's my duty or whatever to care about you."
"Yeah, well," Brook mocked him, "I'm gonna win this in the end, so there's no use in you trying to be all, like, caring and stuff, because I'm getting rid of you in the end."
"Sure," Wolf rolled his eyes. "How are are you, like twelve?"
"Fourteen," Brook spat. "And stop insulting me or this alliance is over."
"I'm not insulting you," Wolf struggled to smooth over their argument.
She's a rude one, isn't she?
"Okay," Brook didn't look at him.
"Alright."
They continued on in silence.

Vanilla grinned, realizing her luck.
He didn't notice me! For a second she thought about perusing him and killing him out farther in the woods but... No. It could wait till later.
Besides, there were other tributes and muttations that could get him in the woods.

There was a rustle in the bushes as Pike came down from the tree in landed in some. He was hungry, and though he knew he could last longer than this he was at the point of hunger when all you can focus is the emptiness in your stomach and the ache in your head. His fingers closed around some strange berries on the bush. Juneberries? Pike guessed. He couldn't remember if these were poisonous or not.

 Brook

Brook wielded her tiny knife, moving slyly towards the boy. He was backing up. She vaguely remembered him as the District 8 boy from training, the kid who- despite his age and stature- barely knew how to fight.
"You ready now, baby boy?" she asked in a purr.
"Uh, yeah," he said in a fail answer.
"Then come on!" Brook took a swipe at him, almost winning the battle right then. If 8 hadn't backed up just then, he would've had a mighty large wound to clean up on his neck.
"Coming, Mother!" 8 met her blade with a sickening clang.
Their battle raged.

Wolf

Fear claimed Wolf the entire of his battle with the girl. She obviously had some experience with weapons, because her swipes were crisp and sure, her eyes narrowed in deadly focus.
I'm not sure I can win this.
The only thing that kept Wolf alive was the sure feeling that he couldn't lose to a girl so much younger than him. If that hadn't taken him, he might've given up the fight near the beginning.
Finally, the girl got a lucky stab, cutting Wolf deep on his bicep and drawing blood. He fell, and she stood over him, knife posed to end the battle.
Yet something stopped him.
To her last of his days, Wolf didn't know what made the girl stop. It couldn't possibly be pity, although he was curled on the ground, trying to stop the bleeding on his arm.
"Hey," the girl said softly. "So, um, I'm Brook."
"Congrats," Wolf rasped. "I'm Wolf. I'm so delighted to meet my murderor."
"No no no," Brook shook her head hard. "I'm sorry that I, like, sliced you on your arm and jazz. So, like, ya wanna be in an alliance?"
"Are you physco?" Wolf scoffed. "Have you SEEN the bleeding in my arm?"
"Still," Brook pulled out a large roll of gauze from her pocket. "I got these from the Cornucopia. I could help, if you want to be my ally. Of course, I could also finish you off and keep my gauze to myself. Your choice."
"Fine," Wolf sat up. "Whatever. Patch me up, doc."
With that, Brook began wrapping gauze around Wolf's arm, and their alliance began.

Max counted the cannons and shouted "eleven!" she called brightly as she chose to eat an apple, biting hard into it.

Lenox brushed against the bush with Vanilla and he shook a little as he went off alone. He wished someone else went off with him and kept alert, looking for a Tribute.

02-28-2012 at 2:15 PM

A loud noise startled Pike, almost making him fall out of the tree. Several more followed the first, ringing out through the entire arena. Pike counted on his fingers.
"Eleven." He mused to himself. "Eleven cannon shots.
Eleven dead already."

Vanilla counted the cannons too, but her attention was more focused on the boy with the trident. Her ax shifted into a more ready position.
The boy was coming closer! She screamed inside her head for herself to be quiet. Her plan was to be elusive, steal their stuff, not be discovered... If she would be found now everything would be ruined. But that all depended on whether this kid found her...

02-25-2012 at 12:52 PM
Lenox kicked the ground and looked up, suddenly he thought of something "since District 3 is for electronics what if we find a kid from there to reactivate the bombs? Then we could be safe without having constant watch" he suggested.

Max looked at Lenox, admiring his sense "that could work. Go out and see if you can find one" she said as she checked the stores.

Lenox sighs. Why did he have to speak up and get sent off. He nodded and set off, his eyes alert and his trident ready. He had armed himself with his sword and a backpack too in case he needed it if he had to camp out.

(Geez, sis. Way to go try-hard with your writing.

Lol, fail on my part xD I didn't even notice you made Wolf from three too)

Vanilla narrowed her eyes. The Careers were just about fininshed taking out the stragglers.
Good. Just a bit longer until I can try to get something from them. She told herself. Her knuckles were white from gripping the ax in her hand, her body tense as to not make the bushes around her rustle.

From high up in his tree, Pike could see off in the distance was a white capped mountain. Just over the tree line he could see a hint of gold from the cornucopia. No sign water was nearby, or any food for that matter. Not that Pike had anything to catch the wild animals. Perhaps if he found some sort of berry he'd be alright, but identifying plants had never been his strength. With a sigh he leaned heavily on the tree he was on. He'd have to find something quick, as nightfall would come in a few hours, or just tough it out.

((Whoops sorry. Let's make him... eight, I guess. Although, knowing my luck, that's taken as well.))

Brook

As soon as she reached the field, she turned, facing the coming boy- guy. He had sandy brown hair and brown eyes, and he seemed awful surprised at her. She wielded her knife openly, just in case he had any sort of weapon on him.
"Hey," Brook said casually, resting the other hand on her hip as she twirled the knife in one pale hand. "Looking for anything?"
The boy looked surprised before replying, "Just a safe place. You know one?"
"Oh, I've been looking around," inside, Brook was boiling with fear, but outside she kept herself calm and collected, not broken like some of the younger tributes. Even in training, Brook had been downgraded as small and not worthy of their time, but she knew her capabilities.
"Oh," the guy struggled for a response. "Well, hey, tell me if you find one." He turned to go.
"Wait wait wait," Brook took a small step towards him. "You're not going anywhere."

Wolf

Wolf stiffened. The girl's words had been low and ominious, not matching her bright green eyes that were filled with life.
"Oh," he struggled to remain even the least bit calm. "Well, then, where am I to stay?"
"I can make arrangements," Brook said meanly, almost in a sneering voice.
"As much as I would totally love that," Wolf was slowly backing up now, "I've got places to go."
"I think they can wait."
"Really, no."
Brook took a swipe, now close enough, and Wolf ducked, covering his head with his hands. The knife grazed his knuckles, drawing blood.
"Alright," Wolf growled. "Here we go." He zipped open the backpack as the girl jabbed at him, using it to guard his face. Inside he found a gallon of water, a bag of crackers, and...
"Bingo," Wolf murmured. "A weapon." It was a long dagger, probably around a foot, made of obsidian-black stone.
"Ready to dance, pretty boy?" the girl took another swipe at him.
"Yeah," Wolf slung his backpack back, weilding the dagger openly. "Let's dance."

(OOC- Are Pike and Wolf both boy tributes in District 3? x.x)

Max sat at the horn of the Cornucopia, crossing her legs as the other Careers killed the straggling Tributes and as some chased after them. She hopped off the warm horn and began to go through the wide Cornucopia, handing out items.

Lenox smiled. It seemed like Max was the leader of Careers. He was still happy to be let in, until they fought each other of course. He left with his sword and trident to look for hiding Tributed.

 Brook

Book breathed deeply. Fear raced in her heart, but she still managed to grab a tiny knife- practically a toothpick- before scuttling away from the Cornicopia. She was fast, alright, and fairly smart, but fightning? Goodness no. Brook could barely wield the large swords the Careers handled with ease.
As she ran, her heart thumped harder.
Feet.
She didn't dare to make a quick glance back, but instead pressed on. The footsteps faded, but were still ever constant, pounding in her ears.
I can't die. Not on the first day. No way.
Brook continued to run.

 Wolf

Wolf barely made it away from the Cornucopia alive. With ragged breathing, fear not letting go of its solid clutch on him, he stormed off of his plate the moment the gong went off and headed towards the field in the distance. With a nervous glance, he saw a redhaired girl heading that way, carrying a toothpick of a knife.
Oh, fantastic. I'm chasing down an armed girl.
Luckily, in a scuffle with another tribute, Wolf had managed to get his hands on a green backpack. He had no idea what it contained- he could only hope something to fight this girl- but this was obviously not the time to look.
The girl continued on, growing farther and farther away with each step.
Golly gee, she's fast.
Wolf was puffing now, his steps slowing to a walk. They'd long since escaped the shouts and clangs of the fighting at the Cornucopia. Now, all that surrounded them was the rustling of the plants in the field, and the soft tweet of birds from the forest. The tension in Wolf's shoulders began to relax.
No, no. I need to stay alert. I need to stay alive.
With a shake of his head to clear it, Wolf continued to follow the redhaired girl.

Max met up with the other Careers as the other Tributes fled or were killed. Soon the cannons would go off "I say we find someone from District 3 to reactivate the mines" she offered.

Lenox nodded, fiddling with his sharp trident "We lost a Career but we have enough. The District 3 boy probably is cowering in a bush" he said;

(M'kay your accepted sistah. To put pictures~
*img src="link"/* change the *s to < and >)

Pike looked back over his shoulder as he ran, the cornucopia getting harder and harder to see as he went downhill in the cover of the trees. He stopped and looked around once before picking a high tree and shimmying up its branches, resting until he could think of what to do next.

Vanilla was almost into the trees. Before she got there, she gave her ax a good throw and it landed right into another tribute just as it would have a tree back home. She griminced as she ran to retrieve it. This person was her first kill. Vanilla grabbed her ax and rolled into the bushes. She would wait until nightfall. Her plan was to steal the Careers food and things for herself.

Max leaped up and grabbed the bow and arrow. She loaded an arrow and shot a fleeing tribute, grabbing a pack of knives for leverage as she joined the careers by the Cornucopia.

Lenox shot off and grabbed a sword, the closest thing to a trident and slashed at a Tribute as he fought to get to the other Careers.
